With an emphasis on personal service and using the latest technology to diagnose and treat problems with vision, we are pleased to offer Behavioural Optometry at Dominic Tunnell Opticians. This service is specifically tailored for those individuals who are experiencing visual difficulties that cannot be rectified with standard lenses.
What is Behavioural Optometry?
Behavioural Optometry is a whole body approach to your vision. It involves a test which investigates the quality and stamina of your visual skills and how they relate to learning and performance. With children especially it can be difficult to know if there is a sight problem or reduced vision, but there are some signs and symptoms you may pick up on.
Behavioural Optometry may be for you or your child if any of the following apply:
- You are dyslexic or suspect you are
- Your reading is slow or takes real effort
- You are underperforming at school, college or work
- You experience headaches after reading or working on a computer
- White boards are too bright and are not comfortable
- You are losing your place when reading
- You see that the words on the page are blurring, moving or floating
What does the test involve?
The Behavioural Optometry test will assess visual processing speed, and eye tracking in relation to educational achievement.
What is the treatment?
Treatment may include a combination of therapeutic, filtered, coloured and/or ‘optimised’ prescription lenses. These improve the patient’s visual processing speed and tracking (eye movements), and stereo vision. The result is to enable more efficient and comfortable reading with less effort and greater enjoyment.
